Photoshop

Recently I signed up for a photoshop class at a local photography school. I have always been interested in photography and have a taken a few classes at this school before. With all of the amazing pictures that I've seen on Pinterest and other sites I wanted to learn how I can create my own photos with a surreal or creative look. The class that I signed up for is called Mirror of the Mind and I have learned so much in such a short time. Here is one of pictures that we created in the class... In this photo I took a picture of my niece who fell asleep in her car seat and placed her on a bed of flowers. You can see that in the first photo she has her seat belt straps and in the second one I removed them. I also styled her hair. I had a bit more fun and with photos I had on hand I put this together for my online read Haunted Souls...

Hickey of the Beast Book Tour

Today I would like to welcome Isabel Kunkle and her book Hickey of the Beast. Here is a little info on her book: Connie thought freshman year might suck. She never thought it’d be literal. Bad dreams? No big deal. After all, Connie Perez is starting her first year in the prep school her mom runs. Anyone would be a little stressed, right? When she starts dreaming about strange creatures and places that don’t make sense, she doesn’t think much about it: there’s other stuff on her mind. Then she starts noticing that the people she dreams about get sick right afterwards. Then everything gets weird. There’s something bad on the campus of Springden Academy. Something that feeds on students and warps their minds. And, as Connie and her friends try to figure out what’s going on, it starts to look like she’s the only one who can stop it. Freshman year was hard enough without having to fight evil after class. Hickey of the Beast Isabel Kunkle Genre: YA / Fantasy Publisher: Candlem

Murder on Mars Preview...

My latest YA will be released later this month and here is a small preview... New Orleans, LA They told her to never venture down alleyways on dark nights—not when the moon was hiding, too afraid to show itself. She was also told to never let her cell phone run low on its battery, so low in fact that a call could not be made on it. Her cell phone had powered down on its own only moments ago and was useless to her now. A howl reverberated down the alleyway, at first it sounded far away, but it seemed to travel down the alley until the howl become deafening. Rosemary had to cover her ears as she quickly looked about for signs of the beast that made the noise. Chiding herself for being fearful she urged herself down the remaining alley drawing her arms close around her self almost as if she meant to ward off evil spirits and keep her soul safe. She had made her decision very late into the night; her mind had raced from one scenario to another. Seeking peace Rosemary grabbed her coat

Hex and the Single Witch

Today is the tour stop for Hex and the Single Witch;Vehicle City Vampires Book One By Roxanne Rhoads About the book Anwyn Rose is descended from a long line of powerful witches yet she can barely cast spells young witchlings have mastered. She has one functioning witch gift, the power of knowing, which she puts to good use as a Detective on Flint’s Preternatural Investigation Team. It’s a new era in Vehicle City, supernaturals are running the town. The P.I.T has their hands full with paranormal crimes. Top priority is a serial killer, who appears to be a vampire, draining young women in the city. Anwyn is on the case with her sexy partner Detective Mike Malone. Complicating things is her relationship Galen, a vampire who looks more guilty than innocent, although Anwyn trusts her instincts even if her power is on the fritz. Mysterious spells, compromising situations, and a possible demon on the loose make it hard to focus on the case, but Anwyn has to make things right before

The Tragic Muse

While at the Huntington Library we came across a fascinating oil on canvas  by artist Joshua Reynolds. It stood out amongst the rest which were traditional oil paintings of the elite. At first we were not sure what to make of it, because it's such a dramatic painting to have on display and a few feet from The Blue Boy by Gainsborough. But, soon we understood and we saw it for the true gem that it was. This is a painting of Reynolds tragic muse, actress Sarah Siddons. A legendary actress of her time and well known for her dramatic roles on the stage. He captured her nestled between two horrible looking creatures. The look of tragic etched on her face explains the scene well. As she is caught in the middle of pity and fear. Yes, that does look like a vampire in the background to her left. The vampire like creature stands  for Pity and the creature on her right is Fear. In true artist fashion, Reynolds incorporated himself into the painting, as he represents the creature fea

Huntington Library

I recently visited the Huntington Library, its filled with beautiful gardens none of which are the same. Here are some pictures I took of the Japanese Garden. It has been quite a while since my last visit and better than I remember.  There are volunteers who help with the upkeep of the grounds and the friendliest docents who are so knowledgeable and can direct you to which ever part of the museum/gardens you wish to see. We had tea in the Tea Room and I consider myself a loyal coffee drinker, but I found myself swayed by the lovely selections of tea they had to offer. The Tea Room Japanese Garden I found this to be a very tranquil garden and could easily spend hours reading our indulging in my love of photography. There are benches to relax on or if you prefer (which we did) you can sit on the grass and just catch up with friends.

Author J.A. Howell

Welcome to the Mistaken book tour! There are so many exciting things going on with the tour, such as a great giveaway that includes a chance to win a paperback copy of Mistaken, bookmarks, a fun magnet and a Mistaken Charm Necklace. I'd like to thank J.A. Howell for stoping by! Enjoy! Music from Mistaken Music has always been a big part of my life, so it isn’t surprising that I always am writing to music. Below are some songs that inspired various parts of Mistaken. I may not share exactly why each song fits so I don’t give away too much of the story, but if you read the book you might understand them a bit better. 1.        Emotion Sickness by Silverchair - The tone of this song just really   seemed to fit the tone of the prologue. Somewhat abrupt in parts, very emotional, and it gives a sense that things are spiraling out of control. 2.        Paradise by Coldplay- “When she was just a girl, she expected the world, but it flew away in her sleep.” Definite
